5 Stores You Must Visit In Downtown Huntington During the Holidays!

With the local economy in Huntington in Question and with more people realizing the benefits of supporting local businesses rather than shop at the Big Cooperate Giants like WAL-MART that seem to suck the life out of small town business nationwide. It is true many times you end up paying a little more at locally owned businesses, however the little more that you pay for that product or service is totally worth what you get in return, and in some cases like the newly opened “Little Sweet Shop” convenience is a nice benefit seeing that until now people would have to drive all the way up to Jefferson Point Mall in Fort Wayne, Indiana to get such a big variety in certain gourmet candies.

Shopping locally also gives you a customer appreciation with a local touch you don’t see anymore in the big cooperate stores! Nothing beats homemade and the tender love and care that goes into it and that is something you get at the local level that you fail to get at the cooperate level.

A lot of times you are just a number to the big cooperation’s that lack the genuine sweet loving interaction you get in local shops. There is a much bigger connection between you the consumer and the owners, and store employees. Often times these interactions lead to deeper relationships giving a much bigger sense of community, something that is in my opinion is at a alltime low at the big cooperate stores.

Look at it as an investment to the community the future and the students when you spend money at locally owned stores. If you believe like I do that the city of Huntington is struggling and needs to get back to the days of the 90’s then Huntington is need of a hero. The good news is things can change and improve and all of you can play a major role in that change. That is all of you have an opportunity to be that Hero Huntington needs.

You will not be disappointed shopping at Local stores I promise! We all know the Holidays is a time of spending times with loved one, a time of Community, and a time of enjoying the simple pleasures of life taking us back to being a kid. Here are 4 Local Shops you MUST visit during the Holidays 2019.

1. The Part Shop - Located 413 N Jefferson St. Huntington, Indiana 46750

Located in the heart of downtown this Cultural Icon has been around for generations providing some of the best custom homemade candies to the citizens of Huntington. The minute you walk in you are greeted with the smell of grandmas kitchen making your favorite sweets. You get that cozy small town feel. It honestly feels like you are on the Mr. Rodgers TV show. Everyone is so nice and greets you with a smile. The candy, coffee is great to. Whether it is the Turtles, Carmel Apples, or my personal favorite Dark Chocolate Buckeyes you and your loved ones are definitely in for a delightful treat without the cooking or mess.

2. Happy Camper Boutique- Located 411 N Jefferson St Huntington, Indiana 46750

Once again located in the heart of downtown Huntington the Happy Camper has a wide variety of clothing, shoes etc. I must confess I have only been in their one time but from what I seen they have a little something for everyone. They even had some toys from what I seen. The atmosphere was great as well.

3. Antiqology – Located 401 N Jefferson St Huntington, Indiana 46750

A place that has quikly become a popular destination for Huntington Locals they offer several hundred types of soda that you can not really find anywhere else in Huntington. They also have hand crafted Root Beer that can also be upgraded to a root beer float. They also have bottled and keg root beer. They offer Ice Cream as well. The Atmosphere they provide is fantastic too giving you a “Old Fashion” like taking you back to what feels like the 50’s. Vintage is the word. So if you are out shopping and need to take a break or just want to catch up with family visiting or friends then be sure to go down and check out Antiqology to slow down and enjoy the holidays.

4. TCB GAMES- Located The old Huntington Library right across the street from the city Christmas tree and right next to Central Living Apartments.

TCB Games is a wonderland full of fantasy if you have gamers on your list. They seel plenty of video consoles, games, comic books, card games, and ever DVD’s. They have what I would say the biggest selection in Huntington County. You will find things there that you will not find at WAL MART. They also buy, and trade. The Atmosphere is full of fantasy and just takes you to your happy place the minute you walk in as you are greeted by a life size Wizard as you walk in. I felt like I was standing face to face with Gandulf from the Lord Of The Rings walking in. TCB Games is definitely a place to check out looking for that special something for you gamer this holiday season. Not only do they have things you cant find anywhere else in Huntington, the prices or great to. You can definitely get some bargains.

5. Little Sweets Spot- Located 315 N Jefferson Huntington, Indiana 46750

The Newly Opened Little Sweet Spot (Just in time for the Holidays) offers a variety of candies that is not in direct compeeeetition with the Party Shop. They feature a super wide varieties of Jelly Beans, and cotton candy. They also have a wide variety of hard candies. The Little Sweet Shop brings to Huntington a variety that just a couple of weeks ago you would have had to drive to Jefferson Point in Fort Wayne to find. Don’t forget about the Life Size Giant Gum Ball Machine located at the middle for the store. The Atmosphere is great as well. It is like walking into the Game “Candy Land, or even this time of the year it is what you would imagine walking into Santas workshop at the North Pole. Perfect Atmosphere.
